About Jennel Alexis Zeppieri, M.D.
I am a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and medical oncology. Throughout my medical training, I have demonstrated strong leadership skills, serving as both chief oncology/hematology fellow and chief internal medicine resident in my fellowship and residency programs, respectively.
My personal and professional journey has led me to passionately pursue a career in early detection and risk reduction in high-risk patients. My mother was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer which we subsequently discovered was related to a mutation in the BRCA gene. Our journey provided me with deep insight into the impact and decision-making involved in hereditary cancers and the critical importance of early detection, personalized treatment plans and compassionate care for individuals and their families at high risk of developing cancer. Through my extensive clinical training and experience in a large, diverse community, I have recognized that hereditary syndromes are often underrecognized by both healthcare providers and the public. This realization has inspired me to focus my career on the treatment, education, and prevention of hereditary cancers. In treating patients from various socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, I have gained a deep appreciation for how personal preferences, cultural influences, and values significantly impact patient decisions and quality of life regarding medical treatments and procedures.
I am determined to focus my career on providing exemplary, compassionate medical care and to actively contribute to future initiatives aimed at improving prevention strategies, decision making and quality of life for those at risk or those who have developed cancer.
